Sandra M. Gilbert (1936–2024) was a distinguished American literary critic, poet, and feminist scholar best known for co-authoring the foundational feminist text The Madwoman in the Attic (1979) with Susan Gubar. She was a professor emerita at UC Davis and served as president of the Modern Language Association.
